Introduction. The proposed research is an analysis of materials of the Open corpus of Veps and Karelian languages, as well as an attempt to correct some of the spelling rules of the newly written variants of the Karelian language.
Materials and Methods. The study is based on the materials of the Open corpus of Veps and Karelian languages. In the work the authors used applied comparative and comparative-historical methods.
Results and Discussion. In the presented study, the authors turn to the problem of normalization in the field of grammar, since the spelling of the language depends on it. This article will discuss the use of the according to the authors of the article, the removal of so-called postpositional cases (approximative and terminative) from the system of Livvic nominal inflection is not entirely legitimate. The analysis of the language material using the tools of the Open corpus can be successfully used in the process of correcting some of the spelling rules of the newly written variants of the Karelian language. This is extremely important, first, for the Ludic dialect, since its unified literary form has not yet been fully formed, and there is practically no educational literature on it. After analyzing the frequency of use of certain categories, these data can be used to create a unified version of the written form of the Ludic dialect, acceptable to speakers of different dialects.
Conclusion. The collected material and the conducted research showed that the earlier decision to remove two cases from the system of Livvic nominal inflection is not entirely legitimate, and the existence of such postpositional cases as the terminative and approximative is justified. Moreover, there are all prerequisites and theoretical justifications for this selection. When developing a unified version of the written form of the Ludic dialect, it is also necessary to consider the inclusion of these cases in the grammar.
