It touches upon the problems of distribution and origin of the word meaning “dog rose” in the dialects of the Moksha language. The dog rose grows everywhere in Mordovia and there are many lexical tokens to denote it.

The article deals with the organization of national publishing during the period from October 1917 to 1929. It shows the formation of the publishing system for the Mordovians and other peoples of the Volga region. Particular attention is paid to the activities of the Central and East Central Publishing Houses of the USSR for the production of literature in the Mordovian (Moksha and Erzya) language.

On the example of the many-sided activities of V. A. Bogoslovskaja, the founder of the first kindergarten in the Komi Republic, the article examines the history of the establishment of the network of preschool institutions in the Komi Republic in the 1920-s. The particular attention is paid to the contribution of a teacher into the organization of pre-school education management in the region, creation and improvement of the educational system and academic work with children, and the training of teachers for pre-school institutions.

The article studies of ethno-political processes in the Finno-Ugric regions of Russia in the XIX – XXI centuries. Analyzing the trial cases (“Multan case”, “SOFIN case”) it presents two identity models in the Republic of Komi and Udmurtia. To understand the traditions of compromise in Komi culture, which contributed to the ethnic revival in the 1990s it analyzed the legacy of the philosopher K. Zhakov.
